Like usually I write my reflection with first impression on beginning and note on the last.  My first impression: game?? (Lemparan2 bola ke kotak). And….. actually ms Lydia want to showed that feedback should give on last session or class, because if feedback accumulated and the teacher give all feedback for student on the last Mid or Semester, then the feedback has no benefit. Like representative by Jeffri when he want catch 5 balls simultaneously. And there is no balls which caught. This is very great representative from ms Lydia. But I think either feedback on last session or feedback on the last Semester has the advantages of each with the objective of each.

We also learn about Questioning. I write down on my note that questioning is the most useful strategy a teacher can employ to assess the progress of instruction. Questioning gives much information for the teacher. Such as about student learning, lets students articulate their own thoughts, reinforces important concepts and behaviors, influences the pace of instruction ect. With Questioning can built interaction between teachers and students, and this interaction is the most important part which must there is do in the class. Because, as well as anything the teacher has lesson plan, but he have no interaction with student, I thinks their class will be disorganized.

First impression: Formative and Summative Assessment.

On December 6^th 2011, we have PETA Subject. We discuss about Assessment more. There is many topics which we discuss that time. We discuss about objective and subjective assessment, how to make good rubrics, and we also discuss about what is formative and summative assessment. I like opening the class, the class opened by Susi and Tiyas, because they late come in class. Actually many students were late, there were at least five students who were too late. For The five student (include me), they must show their talent in front class, to assessed by class (example of subjective assessment), and then Ms. Lidya guide us discuss about that. After that we divided in group. Each group discuss about what is formative and summative assessment? And then we have “gallery walk”.

Formative usually use to alter or improve instruction while it is still going on. Whereas Summative usually use to evaluate the outcomes of the instruction and take the form of tests, projects, term papers, and final exams.

First impression: Reflect topic from group 4, Assessment in the context of instruction.

On November 29^th 2011, we have PETA Subject. We discuss about Assessment more. We divided become group, and Each group discuss about different topics such as What is assessment?, Assessment purpose and proses, Influencing motivation trough assessment, Assessment in the context of instruction, and the last, Domain of classroom assessment. My group, WURI Education got the topics 3th, Influencing motivation trough assessment. We got material is very difficult to translate in bahasa. Finally, with  hard work  and team work, we done the material.

In the closing each group asked to reflect one of five materials which discussed that day. I got 4^th topic, Assessment in the context of instruction. There is two kind of assessment in the context of instruction. It is Conventional Model (after Instruction) and Standard based Model (Before-during-after instruction). About the difference look the chart below.

First impression: sharing about teaching assistant. 


I was very sad, I can’t join in sharing session about school experience. Certainly there was many experience which shared by my friends. I just hear from some friends. There is many experience which shared, but I was very impressed about Lesson plan (especially about daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly). In TLNLAG class, Lia also asked about Lesson plan, daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly, what is the best? Yeah… I agree Devi’s answer, he think weekly lesson plan better than other, because if we make lesson plan every week, it can flexible, it can be adapt with student.

First impression: team teaching again.

On the sixth week, we still in school, I am in SMAN 54. Certainly we will teach. We will do team teaching. On Monday, we thought XIA2 and XIA3. No different from last week, we teaching with enjoy, but like pressed for time. However teaching is not easy, in the XIA2, we meet students who almost not active. So tired teach in there. But I satisfy because I have opportunity to satirize them with show  “part of MONALISA SMILE movie”.

Note:

Sometimes memorize formulas important. With the formula we can accelerate problem solving, and of course will save our times.

There is a teacher ask to his student,

Teacher            : Good morning Class…

Students          : Morning… Sir…

Teacher            : OK… I have some Question for You…

You must Answer it as soon as impossible… take it easy, its  question is not   

difficult, I am sure all of you can answer it. Are you ready?

Students          : Ready…. Sir…

Teacher            : Ok… first question…. “how many five times five?”….

Students          : “twenty five” (all student answer it together)

Teacher            : Second one… “how many twenty five times twenty five?”…

Students          : “six hundred and twenty five” (just four or five of student who answer it)..

Teacher            : Good…

                          Third one… “ how many 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10?”

Students          : (Silent)…

(30 second later)

Teacher            : so long…. “it is fifty five”

Students          : (antonishment)…..

Teacher            : next question….

                          “How many 1 x 2 x 3 x 4 x 5 x 6 x 7 x 8 x 9 x 10?

Students          : (silent again)…..

(a minute later)

Teacher            : so very long….. anybody knows?

Students          : not yet, sir….

Teacher            : “it is 3.628.800”

There is a student say : “Ahhhh…. Sir is cheating… sir memorized the answers before it.

Teacher            : What you say?

A student        : Sir memorized the answers before it.

Teacher            : good….

                          Sometime mathematics is like that… need a memorized for problem solving…

                          Like you must memorize formulas to help you accelerate problem solving.

First impression: continue micro teaching?

On Tuesday, October 11, 2011, we will continue micro teaching. Actually, I still confused, we prepared for secondary school but we more often practice micro teaching for elementary school. When studied about ICT last year, we also micro teaching for elementary school. Why?  

Note:

Be teacher is not we need jobs or money.

But be teacher because we like become teacher.

First impression: micro teaching??? SSE vs IPB? Interview.

On Tuesday, October 4, 2011, we met again with PETA. We have jigsaw reading activity. We divided on four groups, each group became expert groups. Each expert group discuss about a topics. It is Direct Instruction, Lecture Discussion, Guided Discovery Learning, and Groups Discovery Learning. I think we have good activity, we discussed about a topic in expert group and then we shared to our group. I always like Jigsaw, because from Jigsaw we have more material.  

Other activity we divided again on 3 groups, it is graduation of IPB, Graduation of SSE, and headmaster. We did simulation job interview. This nice activity, I like this activity, but I still don’t know correlation between this activity with PETA.

And the last, there was group which micro teaching and we became the students. I think we will teach in secondary school, but we often micro teaching to elementary school. I think that is so different, I want suggest maybe for next assignment, we can microteaching for secondary school.

Why do you want to become teacher?

(when I hear question like that, I remember interview in a movie “front of class”)

Because I feel I born to become teacher, I feel became teacher is my soul mate.

Khoirul umam 2010110038 - The Second meeting

First impression: Wooowww… Watch a movie???

On Tuesday, September 27, 2010, it was the second meeting with PETA, it was nice meeting, nice topics, so interesting because we discussed about movie, we discussed about effective or not effective teaching learning in the movie. It was good activities. 

Miss Lydia also gave us other task. we must create Lesson plan. but Its time was not enough,  we will present our Lesson plan next week. So see you next week on Third meeting.
