My reflection

Our last meeting is about giving feedback and appropriate question. It was nice meeting because I saw the performance of throwing ball and then got the mean of it. There are many types of throwing ball. One of them is represent the collect of all students’ task and then the teacher will give all feedback in the last meeting. On there, have laciness because it is not specific to explain it. The other performance is represent if the teacher give an instruction and then the student give feedback to the activity and teacher give the feedback to their activities. We can conclude that the important feedback for the student and the teacher to make it better than before.

And then what is the meaning of “question”? All people have been usual to give question to other people. But be careful to use the question because we are the teacher candidate who have main role in school condition. The question has a function to make a stimulus tool to construct the critical thinking of the student. They will feel comfort and free to give their opinion about one issue.

Question is stimulus and then the feedback is the evaluation of the activities. Each of both are relate to make improvement.   

Ok, that all of my reflection in our last meeting before we got holiday..

So sorry because I am late to give reflection but in another time I will try to be on time to do this reflection Bu.

Formative and Summative Assessment

We have discussed about the kind of assessment which consists of Formative and summative in last meeting. Firstly, we have known about the assessment but directly in practical so it can be two kind are formative and summative. What is it? Yes, in the process of the studying and after studying will assess by the teacher. On going process will be a guiding for the teacher look the development of the student in the Teaching and Learning process. For example, quiz, reflection, anecdotal record, etc. On another hand is Summative for looking the whole of the result o studying.

There is any tool for making an evaluating for a student to be more professional if has many lack in teaching and learning process. Because on going process is the way to make a good method.

The Element of Classroom Assessment

Here is my reflection about our last meeting..

Firstly, I want to reflect our presentation last day. It was interesting discussion because we have made a poster and then told to another friend about the materials. I can improve my self in delivering the main idea in poster.

As we knew, the element assessment in the class is not only paper and pencil test which commonly happened in several school. The measurement is presentation, worksheet, experiment, etc. the purpose of the assessment it self is depend on the aspect of assess in place. The criteria of the characteristic which assess are the main point to determine the assessment that is used. For example, the vocational school is needed the student potential and also want to be. But we are familiar to face the test from kindergarten until now as student in university. So, the function of assessment is to be feedback tool or evaluation in every process of teaching and learning. So, the use of assessment for diagnoses or grade the result of understanding levels the students.

Many old teacher have used this but for the teacher in the future is the assessment have to be assess the all of multiple intelligent of the student who different each other. But they are has same right to develop their skill and also potency in school.

Assessment in Teaching and Learnng Process

“Assessment”…

When I hearth the word so there are many meaning of assessment on my mind. I was remembering the assessment that is given from my teacher since in kindergarten until university. There are homework, presentation, worksheet, experiment, product, etc. Most of them was paper and pencil test. Therefore, it was not good because assessment only assessed in one side. For example in Senior High School commonly, the teacher gave paper and pencil test and recently the practical only in art’s subjects. We have to study hard to read and to do many exercises before we got the assessment. In fact, teaching and learning process was not effective because the teacher only delivered the content of material because it only need a little bit practice especially for mathematics subject.

There are my experiences about assessment. Base on the above explanation I can learn that is the assessment are important for my future student because we can look the result process in teaching and learning as far as we delivered the knowledge are looked from the assessment’s tools. It is as a medium for evaluates what we did and also the abilities of our students. Firstly, I want to explain about the evaluation. I said it because every activity that we did also have been met many obstacles in class. For example, reflecting my school experience last week that I thought in Senior High School about probability’s topic. We used grouping to do the worksheet because we thought is useful for decreasing the study stress of math and after that they can share it each other. But unfortunately it doesn’t work well for grouping the student. They are not familiar with grouping method so they need much time to do the worksheet in group. So many student were not giving contribution in group work, I observe them that only one student did it and the other did not do anything. And then the result of the quiz do not satisfied. The important thing is we used same method of teaching and learning in every class. In fact they did it fast to finish the worksheet so they can do the presentation in every group. In this case, we as teacher candidate have to more creative in each situation to ready give various methods although it out of our planning but certainly do not forget the essensial of content. Secondly, it has linkage of the first explanation which is the evaluated process we knew students’ disabilities to assess them we have to think the level of their intelligence or difficulties appropriate taxonomy bloom-understanding, remembering, applying, analyzing, evaluating, creating, use the varieties assessment to assess multiple intelligences that we can put in psychomotor and also affective assessment. We can use various assessment to assess it like workshop, exhibition, project, etc.

The other assessment is UAN or National Examination on 2009 that I have been felt. Although we got prestige achievement in one institute but our examination is not passed so it gave difficulties to continue our study. It happened in other place on one time. Finally, the scariness for facing UAN is felt of the students in Indonesia. But now, the government has to change the system to respect of the school report. Base on the fact that happened in Indonesia so as a teacher candidate in the future we have to change our assessment if there only make our student scare to do the test. Actually the goal of learn is “learn for fun and learn for understanding”.

From the assessment we can knew what we have been caught the goal of the study or not.

The modeling of teaching

My Reflection in PETA course....

Okey, guys.

From the sharing session i can learn in making model of teaching to the other friend which has different school...

Talking about the best teacher and teaching we have felt it when we as teacher assistant in the school experience before. No body is perfect but we have to learn more and change our habit which is we reflect what we did in the class. I know so many advices that we get because everyone has his single best story about teaching experience, right?

Ok, base on the experience come from sharing session in the class, i can know that the model of teaching have influence make their understand easily about what we teach. Before we use about the model, it will be better to observe the children characteristic cause every class has their style. The student are interested in their comfort condition. For example, the students has dominant intelligent in the right brain so our reaction as a teacher we have to care about it. We can give the activity that relate in using creativity. Especially in mathematic, we can use their skill to help their understanding in mathematic in the left brain. Mathematic is not only about the serious situation but we can show with the interest way. After discussion about it in the other group when the sharing session. We get the conclusion that we not only have to concern in fun learning but also has meaningful about the session. They can learn something when we teach in the class.

Not only the background of the student that we can use for  guiding in our lesson plan but we look in the other session such as gender, experience, religion, need, prior knowledge, culture, etc. The otherwise, our personality are the one side that more important for give their more be motivate in our lesson. “Greget” and initiative are needed in encourage their spirit.

Lesson plan is useful to guide the teacher activity and planning their do but it can change depend on the class and time of the activity. We can use lesson plan to reflect our activity. For the next year, we can read and evaluate to make it be better.

My second week of teachng experience

This is my reflection about teaching and learning process in week 2, I have taught for three times in class XI.

Behind the scene, We were busy to prepare the class’ activity. We have prepared the material and media of teaching and learning of Trigonometry and Probability’s topic. Before we practiced our lesson plan, we have been consulted the lesson plan to master teacher. There are so many advices that we have got such as instructional media, worksheet, homework, and also the lesson plan’s model. In fact, the lesson plan guide and lesson plan from the teacher are different. So, we have to change the models of lesson plan to be the lesson plan like the school. Not only the model but also the content we have to change to make it better. And also we reduce the activity that is needed much time. In quiz test, there was the question which is not appropriate for the skill of the student. Because the level was have to begin the low into the high level. The other tool that support them is gave them any exercises that it has a little difference for the quiz. So, it was appropriate that the teacher given among the expectancy score.

The day of the practice, I felt so nervous, Because the teacher will assess us. I opened the class with greeting, goal of the activity, and also review. I forget some the content and “blank” what will I explain to the student. I felt like that because all of them gave more  attention to us with the silent condition. I just hear my voice there. By the time, I can control what I felt with discuss together. I give the question and asked one person to answer with written down in white board. Not only that we asked him to explain his answer to the other friends. It was the good way to reduce my nervous. I can be interacted to them.

And then the material was continuing with my friend. She gave the games interaction to them, the reaction was very good. They looked very happy to found the other friend in group games. So, they got the worksheet there. We went around in every group,  I have many question in group to explain the question meaning. On the question, I have the question that I can not answer it. Suddenly, my friend come and helped me to answer. I realize, that knowing the overall of the content that will be given is very important. Briefing first before the class begin and sharing our duty to the other friends in team, useful for us to be more perfect in class. I can imagine the other friend in another school felt like us that the time was limit but we need for share the materials.

The other important thing was about the efficiency the time. Sometime we felt so comfort in our doing. So, it makes us forget how many time that we have to explain or play the games. We have to control and remind to the other friend.

My master teacher said that we have to give attention about the deliver of the materials in short time. As we knew that the materials in senior high school was too much. Overall, our method was interactive and good. But it can not asses the individual skill because most of the activity was use group method. Maybe in several time we can use it. But not all of meeting we can not use the method. For the deliver the content, we only be a facilitator. There are only remembering the last materials and encourage their critical thinking to find the new formula.

Most of the materials that the teachers give to the students are lecture discussion. Rarely, the learning and teaching process use in group. I got so many wonderful experiences from my School Experience. So ,happy and proud in our effort  to follow and to prepare the activity in team

The reality for Teaching

Hello guys…

What is your experience in your School’s observe?

I have so many wonderful experience there…I want to share to you.

 On first week in Senior High School, I observed in teaching and learning process at class XI IPA 2. They are Mathematics teacher for class XI IPA which teaches mathematics in different topic which is Bu X for Trigonometry’s topic but Bu Y for Probability’s topic. We observed the class of second meeting for each topic. The facilities in every class has projector, 2 white boards and every student has one textbook. Every class has about 36 students.

            It was our first time to observe and help the teacher for teaching. Firstly, Teachers was opening class with greeting and then explaining about the goal in this session. In first class with Bu X, She was giving some questions for remembering about last materials. Teacher gave questions and then student was answering, the discussion was interactive because has many students was answering the questions as long as teaching and learning process. Before closing the class Bu X gave homework for every student. Although the method are classical but the teacher’s characteristic was helpful for making good atmosphere.  

            The other meeting for Probabilities with Bu Y, she has same ways for opening the class until explaining the goal.  She gave the simple question for beginning the materials. And then makes a group used puzzle. They asked do the experiment of the instruction media that the teacher gave in group. But so many students did not understand the instruction of worksheet which is used English. The schedule for presentation is broken because it needed many time. So, the teacher took another method for making efficient time. And then the teacher was using lecture discussion for explaining the next materials.
