First Reflection of TA_Umi Salamah_2010110006


Experience is a good teacher in learning process
In first week, I didn’t get chance to observe the teacher lesson plan, because there is being held midtest in Senior High School of Muhammadiyah 3 for a week. Therefore for  four days,  we have arrange our schedule, such as introduce with the school partners, observe the data of school, and then my friends and me from the mathematics department have discussed with our master teacher about the material and lesson plan. Starting with introduce between us, the school part is welcome to us, from begin we tell for them that what is our program and objectives. They provide the place for us together with the college of UHAMKA at Seventh semester.
In first week we are from math Department more prepare things relate with lesson plan. We know that we will teach at second week, so first week  we more prepare to make a lesson plan. We invite our master teacher to discuss the lesson plan which we made. He helps us about the materials, we discussed in Library. Before we made lesson plan, we also ask him to borrow the syllabus and the lesson plan that he made. Actually, there is different between the lesson plan that we learn in campus with what he made. Now, Lesson Plan or RPP have being full with character education in every subject.
The process make a lesson plan actually teach me to learn and learn. My friends and me learn again about the material that we will give our students. Wia, Hannie, Ita, and me did together the task, if one of  us can’t did it, so we will help each other.  Instead of that, we learn from past experience, when we are in senior high school we just give a formula in materials. In past, rarely we give explain “where is formulas come from”, but just a little teacher that can explain about it. So, based on our experience, we will  prepare the way  or other method to make students comfortable and understand about the learning process in class. We search  derived the formula, so if there is student that ask about that, we can explain  it. Actually, we want to explain about that in learning process, but our master teacher said that the student usually give the instant formula, and also shorten the time. Among the time in discussion, our master teacher help us in do exercise  and about the content that we can’t, but for the method and activities he give freedom to us to make a creative activities.
In third day, my friends and me got the precious moment. Before we go home, there are three students from first grade in senior high school. They let us to introduce, and then they ask us to help them to teach them exercise.  In fact, many exercise that they can’t did. About the multiplication by the powers, they didn’t understand, should in junior high school, they can employ about the multiplication, don’t use the calculator. So, my friends and me will try  hard to explain the material about the quadratic equation and quadratic function.  We must be patient to teach them until they understand. We hope, we can do it next week.
Instead of that, my reflection is about there is a character education in RPP.  I don’t want if I teach my student because to fulfill the RPP.  Because, I think many of teacher still don’t give pedagogical in educated the student, there is still teacher just only teach about the content. Although there is the RPP of character education, there is still teacher don’t include about the moral value in learning process. Actually, in my opinion, the character education is a good behavior of teacher, she/he must become model for the students, not only the words in RPP.
