E-Reflection week 4 Principle of effective teaching and assessment

Being a teacher is not easy as imagine by the people. Yah,,,It was my true feeling when I did microteaching with my team at PETA Course on the last meeting.  I was so nervous at the beginning. I didn’t think normally. In my mind I said that “Oh my God, what I have to do??? Give me your hand, please”.  But,,,time by time,,a sense of the nervousness that was lost little by little. We did the best for our performance on the microteaching. And walaaa,,,finally we could do the best. My friends that at the time acted as my students seemed satisfied with the activities presented by my team. Thanks for your participation and enthusiasm, guys. Oh,,ya, congratulations for my team also. :) Let’s rock guys,,,

This experience gives me a lesson that being a teacher especially teacher in elementary school is not easy its simply. Checking papers, making a good lesson plan, making table of specification for the exam and reviewing subject matters are their activity besides teaching. Teachers in elementary schools have to be creative and sometimes need to think out of the box. They need to think other special works to him/her to be able to gain extra point in his/her grades. It couldn’t t be denied if it would give them a headache. Ya,,,need some sacrifices to create an effective teaching in class. I remember when I was doing an observation in an elementary school in Jakarta. I was really impressed with the way teachers teach. I saluted and appreciated on their sacrifices. They were patient in facing their student needs and able to create some interesting activities that relate with the subject matter. They know how to enhance their students understanding and they know how to grab their attention to enjoy with all activities in teaching and learning process.

Yes, being a teacher is a humbling experience. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think even if we're not being a real teachers, we still do teach. Remember that, we still have a family. We can teach our family or even our kids about something new and useful for their life that might not be taught in school.  I think it's high time we gave our services to the school or profession which helped us for who we are today. As a teacher candidate, I wish I could be a teacher like that. Not only being a teacher but also the great teacher.  I want to make their future brighter and I belief I can do it.

That’s my reflection on the last meeting at PETA Course.
